This item did not work very well at all. The foam inside ripped and bunched up. The heater only worked for a short period of time. I would advise you not to waste your money on this product.

I have 4 cats ranging in age from 6 to 17. I bought this for my 17 year old but I may have to end up buying one for each cat! I uploaded a picture of Bruiser - he's the youngest of the bunch and the largest - weighing between 16 and 17 lbs. and he takes up the entire mat! I was hoping when I bought it that I could get 3 on the one mat but 14" x 28" looks much smaller in person when you receive the mat. This will be very easy to take care of in case one of the cats decides to hack up a furball while laying on it. There is a full-length zipper on one end and the actual heating pad is sandwiched between the cover and two layers of soft foam. Yes, some people have complained about the heating pad being half the size of the entire unit, but I put the heating pad on a diagonal inside the cover and because the heat radiates out of the pad, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the way this is constructed. It is a very gentle heat and saves a little electricity when the cat gets up the pad rises in temperature to around 10 degrees above your actual room temp. When the cat steps on the unit, the dual thermostat knows and it increases the temp up to 102 degrees, which is absolutely perfect for a cat or dog. And yes, Bruiser finally got off the pad and let my 17 year old use it.

I bought this for my oldest cat, age 15, but I have 2 others as well. All the cats seem to like the heating pad and take turns sleeping on it. The heating element is smaller than the cover size so buyer beware. I think this is so the cat can take advantage of the soft pad in the cover but not be forced to be 100% on the heat. Two cats can lay on it together but as I said they are only partially on the warmth. It warms nicely and I leave it plugged in all the time. I am very happy with this purchase.

I decided to buy this heated pet mat over the others available on Amazon because the heating insert inside of it is the largest available for the price range. The heating element does in fact extend the full length of the pet bed, though it's only about half as wide. It does the job though- when it is plugged in, the entire pad feels warm to the touch from the outside. The pad cover is also a softer texture than it appears in the product image: it has a furry texture to it that my cat just loves.br /br /This product really did the trick: my cat LOVES it. He's been sleeping on it 20 hours a day since I purchased it. He's getting old and tends to get cranky when the weather gets cold. Not anymore with the continuous warmth of this heated pet mat!

I'm very glad to critique this item. It was VERY deceptively Advertised!!! I needed the PAD for a larger doggie-hut, but settled for its advertised SIZE of 14" X 28". The foam-rubber pad and cover certainly are that size...but NOT THE ACTUAL Heating Pad which is slightly uder 6" by slightly over 20". YES - that is the truth!! I was at a very busy time in my life, and sending it all back would have been MOST inconvenient. I would NEVER order anything else from this COMPANY! I may be wrong - but something I quickly read about their RETURN Process seemed to be one of JUMPING THRU HOOPS. The POINT is - they should NEVER have advertised the MAT at such a size - when it was the FLUFF that made up for the difference NOT the Mat itself.
